Top names in their games in Vancouver for mountain film fest

The 8th Annual Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival has announced several top athlete/adventurer guests.

Confirmed attendees include climber Peter Croft, adventure photographer Heinz Zak, mountaineer filmmaker Anna Pietraszek, mountain biker Hans Rey and ice climber Joe Josephson.

The festival runs Feb. 20-27 and is organized as a series of theme evenings. Pietraszek will be in attendance for an evening event featuring renowned Polish mountain films. Josephson will be at the ice-climbing event, Rey will be at the mountain biking event, Zak will attend the climbing theme evening and Croft will host a night of films made in B.C. and Canada.

The festival also includes an evening of whitewater films, an evening of films about K2, a seminar series, a presentation of the Alpine Club of Canada’s Melting Mountains project, and a photography contest.

Festival screenings take place at North Vancouver’s Centennial Theatre and the Vancouver Planetarium.
