Top shots chosen for Pro Photographer Search

The names are now in and it’s camera-fuelled crunch time for six action sports photographers, potentially on the verge of the big league.

Thirty-eight entries from Canada, the U.S. and Europe made this year’s selection the largest ever for the World Ski and Snowboard Festival’s annual Pro Photographer Search, to be held April 14 and 15. This year’s finalists covered a range of action sports including mountain biking, kayaking, skiing, and snowboarding. They are: Sterling Lorence of Vancouver; Peter Moynes of Solcan; Ryan Creary from Canmore; Jonathan Selkowitz of Jackson; Dave Humphreys of Squamish and Matt Power from Aspen.

These guys are now no doubt sweating on ideas for their 12 minute challenge. Each photographer will have to present a body of work expected to inspire and move the audience. They will need to provide a vivid journey through their lens into the world of action sports, all choreographed to music. The winner will be deemed Best of Show, and given an automatic wildcard entry in to Exposure’s premier event, the Pro Photographer Showdown. The Best of Show wildcard winner will present their work beside three invited photographic legends: surf photographer Warren Bolster, Swedish-based outdoors photographer Mattias Fredriksson, and skateboarding photographer Jon Humphries.

The WSSF Pro Photographer Searches have fast become one of the premier platforms for getting noticed. It has catapulted the careers of many photographers and been a platform for inspiring action sports photographers.

The Pro Photographer Search, presented by Sony as part of the Exposure line-up of events, will be held at the Delta Whistler Resort. Tickets are $10, available April 1.
