Whether you run for fun or for sport, the Nike Valley Trail Run is as casual or as competitive as you want it to be.
There are 5 km and 10 km courses on the Whistler Valley Trail System, around Lost Lake and the Whistler Golf Course. On race day, May 26, both the 5 km and 10 km groups will start in the parking lot opposite municipal hall and finish in Mountain Square.
Last year more than 160 runners and walkers took part, and record numbers are expected again this year. All proceeds go towards the Whistler-Blackcomb Foundation.
You can register in advance at the Mountain Adventure Centre or at the Nike Shop in the Pan Pacific Lodge, and race packages will be available for pickup from May 23 to 25, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Early birds pay $25 before May 25; registration goes to $30 on race day. Race day registration runs from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the Nike Shop, with the race starting promptly at 9 a.m.
At 11 a.m. there will be an awards ceremony with medals for the top finishers and draw prizes for everyone else. Prizes include footwear and clothing from The Nike Shop, two nights at the Delta Whistler Suites, and dinner for two at Zeuskis.
