The market for Intrawest properties at Mont Tremblant doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Intrawest sold all 126 suites in its new Westin Resort Tremblant in just 12 hours, the company announced Tuesday. The luxury condominium hotel is scheduled to open in June 2000. Intrawest and Westin announced the project March 25. Intrawest will develop and manage the $32 million hotel, with Westin providing the sales and marketing support through a franchise agreement. Units were sold at an average price of $460 per square foot, which Intrawest says is the highest price achieved in the region and similar to prices at Whistler. The hotel can accommodate approximately 90,000 annual visits to the Quebec resort "and further enhance Tremblant’s position as the number one resort in the east," said Daniel Jarvis, executive vice president and chief financial officer. The Westin Resort Tremblant sales follow the sale of 51 mountain homes at Panorama resort on March 2. The 51 homes sold for more than $10 million in just five hours. In February Intrawest sold out four buildings at Copper Mountain in Colorado in a total of nine hours, worth $117 million CDN. "The success of these launches will have a major impact on the growth of our resort operations in the coming years," Jarvis said in a release. "This operations impact is at the heart of our entire strategy. We don’t just build real estate, we create villages, which totally changes the way a resort works." The six-storey hotel at Tremblant will include a fine dining restaurant, cafe, European spa, fitness facilities, six conference rooms, a ballroom, and an outdoor swimming pool.
