Whistler’s emerging triathlon community may be getting a little more organized if enough people turn out the Meadow Park Sports Centre on March 27 at 6:15 p.m.

Seventeen Whistler residents ran in the March 10 UBC Triathlon/Duathlon, many producing promising results. In the long course Triathlon, Paul Suter finished first in the 40 to 45 age group, and 15 th overall. Brian Fishbrook and Paul Nicholas also finished at the front of the pack. Mark Lamming competed in the male 30 and over category.

Christine Suter was first in the 30-plus age group and the second female overall. Karen Playfair also competed on the long course.

In the short course triathlon, Claire Daniels was first in the under 20 age group and second overall, and Brooke Playfair was sixth in the same division. Jane Pratt, Cindy Tyler and Libby McKeever also competed.

Deane Lambe, Paula Lamming, and Christine Eldridge competed in the Duathlon, and three kids came out to participate in the Kids Triathlon.

With this kind of turnout – and these kinds of results – Christine Suter has booked a room at Meadow Park to see if there is enough local interest to launch a Triathlon club.
