Plaza Bistro packed for turkey event They went to three sittings and still they packed them in at the Plaza Bistro's second annual Thanksgiving charity event to raise money and goods for the Whistler Food Bank, Monday, Oct. 13. Up from just two sittings last year, the result was $2,680 raised in cash and approximately $750 in non-perishable goods. "That's more than double what we raised last year," says Carole Lind Petersen of Plaza Bistro restaurant. Staff were helped by a dozen volunteers from other restaurants and the village at large. For $10, diners got an aromatic bowl of squash curry soup to start, then a moist dish of turkey breast, mixed vegetables and potatoes. The traditional pumpkin pie finished off the meal. All the money paid went to the food bank, thanks to food donations from a number of the restaurants’ suppliers and others. Among the donors were: Neptune, Trimpac, IGA Plus, Yen Brothers, Sturdy Farms, Slopeside Supply, Peak's Coffee, The Delta Whistler Resort, Whistler Brewing, Warsteiner, Medallion Wine Marketing and Little Mountain Bakery. "If we can get the same amount of support, we'll do it again next year," Petersen says.
