The wildfire burning at the 28-kilometre area of Squamish Valley Road remains under control as of Friday.

It has seen no significant growth, said Donna MacPherson, fire information officer with the Coastal Fire Service, on Friday morning.

The fire remains at about 50 hectares, though an official mapping can't be done while it is overcast, she said.

A crew of eight BC Wildfire Service firefighters is on the scene.

Significant rain has fallen since Tuesday night, helping combat the blaze.

On Tuesday, the fire came within 30 metres of a residence.

"It was known and it was prepared for and there are sprinklers on the home and there was no danger at any time," said Dorthe Jacobson, of the Coastal Fire Service, on Wednesday.

Sprinklers were put on the home by the homeowner and not in conjunction with the fire service, Jacobson noted.

According to BC Wildfire Service, the blaze does not pose a threat to people or structures.

Squamish Valley Road is open but drivers in the area should be cautious of crews and vehicles.

On Monday, a homeowner burning slash reportedly caused the fire, though an investigation is ongoing.

Since April 1, there have been 30 wildfires of note and fires larger than 0.009 hectares burning in B.C.

The Chief will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
