Used book sale Oct. 9

Thanksgiving weekend in Whistler is synonymous with sales. There’s the Whistler Mountain Ski Club’s annual ski swap, the Turkey Sale and any number of other poultry-influenced sales by local snowsport retailers.

But there’s also another kind of sale on Oct. 9: the annual fall used book sale.

The sale takes place at the IGA Marketplace, as usual, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Books, magazines, comics, videos and CDs will all be for sale by donation, with all funds raised going towards the purchase of reading materials at the Spring Creek elementary and Whistler Secondary libraries.

Donations to past used book sales have also yielded hundreds of books that have gone directly into the two schools’ libraries.

Organizers are now accepting donations for this year’s used book sale. Fiction, non-fiction, travel, self-help and any other types of books can be dropped off at the TD Canada Trust, Nesters Market, the Whistler Public Library, Whistler Secondary or Spring Creek schools. Videos, CDs, magazines and other materials can also be dropped off at these sites.

Anyone with a large donation that needs to be picked up can call Jane Reid at 604-932-3665.
