Love wasn’t the only thing in the air on Valentine’s Day. Halfway through the eighth race of the Kokanee Valley Race Series calendar close to 70 racers turned out for a giant slalom on Blackcomb, with racers enjoying mild temperatures and hard-packed conditions on Gandy Dancer/Ross’ Gold.
The next event is a super G on Blackcomb on Thursday, Feb. 28. The race is open to all skiers, snowboarders and telemarkers aged 19 and older, and all participants are eligible to win draw prizes including a pair of Atomic skis.
Advance registration is available at Whistler-Blackcomb Guest Relations for $20, and day-of-race registration is $25 in the Rendezvous Lodge.
