The second Salomon Valley to Peak Race won't take place until September, but those interested in taking part can lock down a spot now.
Registration for the uphill event, slated for Sept. 3, is open to the public. Early-bird rates are in effect until Aug. 23, with solo registration costing $50 and team-of-three registration costing $120 until that date. Afterwards, the respective costs will be $65 and $160.
The race will again be held on Whistler Mountain, and competitors will face a 1,600-metre elevation gain over the distance of a 23-kilometre course.

Training crash sidelines Iles
Two weeks after claiming his first UCI DH junior men's win, Finn Iles lost a chance to make it two in a row.
The 16-year-old local rider got tangled up in a rock garden leading up to the second race of the year in Cairns, Australia and after sustaining some injuries, felt it prudent to sit out the race and set his sights on the meat of the UCI DH season, which continues in about a month's time in Albstadt, Germany.
"The rock garden got the best of me yesterday, not stoked to be sitting this one out but I should be good for the next one," Iles posted on his Instagram page on April 22.
Great Britain's Matt Walker took the win in the junior men's category, followed by Australians Remy Morton and Harry Bush.
Whistler hoopsters crack U15 provincial squad
Two Whistler basketball players will represent British Columbia at the U15 level this summer.
Pietra Kamstra and Jenna Tobias were named to the provincial squad on April 22.
From the 17 members named to that roster, 12 will be selected for the final team that will suit up for B.C. at the National Championships in Regina, Sask.
In a release, head coach Rich Chambers said he's encouraged by what he sees in the group as a whole.
"The coaches are very excited about working with this level of athlete at the provincial level. We are very committed to individual player improvement over the next four months and we are also excited about the process," he said.
