Vancouver Canucks coming to Whistler

First training camp at Meadow Park since 1999

After weeks of rumours the Vancouver Canucks confirmed on Friday, Aug. 19 that they will be hosting a full team, five-day training camp at Meadow Park Sports Centre from Sept. 14 to 18.

The camp will be followed by the Canucks’ Blue verses Silver intra-squad game at GM Place on Sept. 18.

The schedule for the Whistler camp has not been finalized, but Meadow Park is expecting the routine to be similar to the club’s last Whistler camp in 1999 with morning practices and some afternoon scrimmages. Most of those events will be open to the public.

According to the Canucks management, "In an effort to re-connect with fans, the Canucks will hold a number of open practice sessions and the annual Blue vs. Silver intra-squad game at General Motors Place. In addition, the club will hold a portion of the camp nearby in Whistler, B.C. at the Meadow Park Sports Centre to allow for important team activities such as team building. On-ice sessions in Whistler will also be open to the public."

The announcement follows Whistler hosting a successful training and development camp for the World Junior Team from Aug. 10 to 14.
