The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man killed in a paragliding accident in Pemberton this week. The man was 44-year-old Judd Adam Feldman of Pemberton.

"Feldman and a friend launched their paragliders from a launch site near Pemberton on the afternoon of July 8, 2014, with the aim of travelling to another area where other paragliders were camping. The two became separated during the flight," the coroner's office said in an email.

"When the campers returned to Pemberton on July 9, 2014, they realized Mr. Feldman was missing and contacted emergency services. A search was immediately begun. On the morning of July 10, 2014, a Canadian Forces Buffalo aircraft spotted Mr. Feldman and his glider near the peak of Owl Ridge north of Pemberton. When military search-and-rescue technicians parachuted into the site, they found Mr. Feldman deceased."

"It is a very unfortunate incident," said Whistler RCMP spokeswoman Cpl. Diane Blaine on Thursday.

"It is a very trecherous area, so they are still in the process of dealing with this, and what happened and how it happened," she said.

Pique will continue to follow the story.
