Visitor mugged in Village

Male approached at Greyhound bus stop, asked for lighter and cash

Just after midnight on the morning of Jan. 23, the Whistler RCMP received a report from a male who was mugged while walking through the village.

According to the report, the male was approached by two men near the Greyhound bus stop, who asked him for a light and $10 cash. When the man refused, one of the men punched him in the face and demanded all of his money.

The man, a 31-year-old visitor from Scotland, handed over several hundred dollars that were in his wallet. At that point he was punched again, and the men left the area.

The man returned to his hotel room where he contacted the police. His injuries included a swollen lip, but no medical assistance was required.

The police searched the area, but no one matching the suspects' descriptions was found in the area.

The police are now looking for the public's assistance in locating the suspects. Both males are described as Caucasian and in their mid-20s. The first male was five-foot-eight with a medium build, a cream-coloured toque and white jacket. The second male was five-foot-five with a medium build and short blonde hair, wearing a thick black jacket.

If you have any information, contact the Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8577).

Nightclub call leads to arrests

At 1:56 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, the RCMP were called to a local bar on the village stroll after the doormen were involved in a brawl with a male they were attempting to escort out of the club. The male sustained a cut on his head in the altercation, and the RCMP called in the paramedics to for assistance.

While the police were dealing with the man, his girlfriend exited the bar, saw the injury and reacted wildly. The police managed to calm her down briefly, but then she lost her cool again and attempted to strike one of the officers. She was arrested, at which point her boyfriend, who was being attended by the paramedics, entered the fray by throwing a bloody snowball at the RCMP officers.

Both were taken to the Whistler detachment cells until they were sober, and were charged with public intoxication - a fine of $115. The female, a 25-year-old from Whistler, was also charged with obstructing a police officer, a municipal bylaw that carries a fine of $500.

Male arrested with drugs

On Friday, Jan. 21 an RCMP foot patrol in the village came upon a suspected drug trafficking in progress, and arrested four males. They discovered a baggie that contained a "moderate amount" of marijuana and a small black box with 14 pills of what is suspected to be ecstasy. One subject was arrested for trafficking, and brought to the cells where he was processed. Charges are now pending.

Drug arrest leads to charges

The Whistler RCMP is recommending charges to the Crown after substances found in possession of a man on Dec. 4 proved to be cocaine and ecstasy.

The RCMP arrested several suspects in the village on suspicion of trafficking, and now a 26-year-old Whistler man is facing three charges of possession; one charge for 2.5 grams of cocaine, one charge for seven tablets of ecstasy and one charge for a three-ounce bag of marijuana.
