Volleyballers fundraise way to Hawaii

Cupcakes, bottle drives and hot dogs pave way for dream trip

It took two years of selling hot dogs, collecting bottles and baking cupcakes, but at last the Whistler Volleyball Girls Club has raised enough money to pay their way to their first international tournament.

The team, which is comprised of Whistler Secondary students, is heading to a two-day tournament on Oahu, Hawaii, where they will face 20 teams. With travel and training they will be away for a total of eight days.

The team includes Lauren Mooney, Jenna Romanin, Lauren Treleaven, Clarissa Bell, Nina Duval, Nicole Kay, Morgan Munro, Nadine Crowe and Erin Kerr.

The team thanks sponsors at Intrawest, the Resort Municipality of Whistler, Rick Flebbe Photography, and Shelley and Marilyn at the Bottle Depot for their support and contributions to the team.
