Kevin Wert of Rossland finished fifth out of 140 competitors at a Dec. 19 Europa Cup downhill in St. Moritz, Switzerland.
Known for his kamikaze style, Wert charged his way to within three-tenths of a second behind race winner Andreas Hoffman of Austria. Jeff Durand of Calgary also cracked the top-30, finishing 25 th overall.
