Getting a late start to his mountain biking day turned out to be a winning decision for Ryan Domm.

The 16-year-old Surrey resident was the one-millionth rider to take to the slopes of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park and the milestone came with a heap of prizes and a party during his first trip to the bike park this summer.

"I was just standing in line thinking it was a regular day and all of a sudden they pull me to the side with my little bro, and I thought what's going on," said Domm.

"There were pictures and interviews but I didn't really get what was going on until an interviewer asked me how it felt to be the millionith rider."

As for "little Bro" Garrett, 15, he didn't really care he wasn't the top winner coming in 999,999 th said Domm chuckling.

This is only Domm's fourth visit to the bike park but now he said: "I am definitely going to go every weekend or more."

"I didn't really understand how lucky I was until I got home and went, 'Wow, did I really just win that?'"

Whistler Blackcomb is the first lift-accessed mountain bike park in the world to reach one million unique riders.

"Whistler Blackcomb is incredibly proud to reach this milestone," said Rob McSkimming, Whistler Blackcomb's vice president of business development.

"We would like to thank every rider who helped us make it to one million and we look forward to hosting our next million riders."

Domm was greeted by confetti guns, and walked away with a prize pack including: a complimentary season's pass for the remainder of the 2011 season, a season's pass for the 2012 season, a custom Dakine Whistler Mountain Bike Park 1,000,000 Rider bike jersey, lift line priority for the remainder of the day, a fully guided bike tour from the Whistler Peak Chair, and an après bike celebration at the Garibaldi Lift Company.

He was handed the prize pack by biking legend Brett Tippie.

Riders 999,996 through to 1,000,001, also received prizes.

The Whistler Mountain Bike Park is in its 12 th season of operation and is considered the No.1 lift-accessed mountain bike park in the world. The Whistler Mountain Bike Park is open until October.
