Whistler Blackcomb funds new trampolines for gym club

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation has again provided support to the Oros Whistler Gymnastics Club, this time contributing a grant of $14,051 to purchase new in-ground trampolines.

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation has again provided support to the Oros Whistler Gymnastics Club, this time contributing a grant of $14,051 to purchase new in-ground trampolines.

That's on top of a $210,000 grant awarded three years ago to purchase new equipment for the Oros facility in the High Performance Centre at Cheakamus Crossing.

According to Whistler Blackcomb Executive Mei McCurdy, the second grant was an extension of the original grant.

"We realized how many kids were positively affected by the Whistler Gymnastics Club," she said. "The first grant was to make sure the Oros Whistler Gymnastics Centre could come to fruition, and the second was really a continuation of that to make sure of the safety of the children with the equipment."

As a result of an error in the depth of the trampoline pits, the Gymnastics Club needed to order two custom-sized trampolines that worked with the layout of the pits. The new trampolines were installed last week, as was the practice bar suspended over the facility's new foam pit.
