Whistler-Blackcomb tops Skiing Magazine’s rankings, again

On the heels of topping the Transworld Snowboarding readers poll for best resort last week, Whistler-Blackcomb received accolades from Skiing Magazine and Ski Magazine.

Skiing Magazine ranked Whistler-Blackcokmb as their top resort for the 11 th year in a row in their readers’ poll, where resorts are ranked for snow, terrain, affordability and nightlife.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming ranked second in the rankings, followed by Crested Butte, Colorado.

Fernie finished fifth on the list, the only other Canadian resort to crack the top-10.

Skiing also ranked the resorts for snow, with the top award going to Alta, Utah.

Ski Magazine also released its Top 25 Resort Guide rankings, with Whistler-Blackcomb placing third, moving up one spot from last season. Whistler made the top-10 list in 11 different categories and ranked in the top-five for Steeps, Backcountry Access, and Parties.

In the Transworld Snowboarding rankings, Whistler was ranked first overall in the resort category, moved from fifth to second in the terrain park category, and ranked fourth in the halfpipe category.

“We had an incredible 2006-2007 season, with the second snowiest year on record, the successful debut of the Symphony Amphitheatre, and the launch of our groundbreaking Peak to Peak Gondola project,” said Stuart Rempel, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Whistler-Blackcomb.

“These top ranking are an indication that all of our hard work has paid off and guests are receiving the memorable experience we strive to provide.”
