Whistler Museum and Archives is celebrating its first spring brunch at Joel’s at Nicklaus North on April 22.

Local musician Allison Hunter will provide live music for the afternoon. Great items will be up for grabs in a Chinese auction, a mix between a raffle draw and silent auction.

"We thought it would be a great community get-together as we wrap up winter and look forward to the summer," says Pat Gemmill, Museum Curator.

Florence Petersen will speak on Whistler B.S. (Before Skiing), during the brunch.

Tickets are $50, or $375 for a table of eight, and are available at the Whistler Museum and Archive Society, located on Main Street next to the library.

ICBC kicks in for DARE

Whistler RCMP and the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program is getting a boost from ICBC.

The insurance company is donating $2,500 to the awareness program. DARE targets local Grade 5 and 6 students, providing assistance and information about leading a drug-free and violence-free lifestyle.

"This is another example of the RoadSense Team supporting youth initiatives in the community," says Constable Ray Bernoties. "Their continued support is appreciated and valued."

Volunteers still needed

The Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival is still seeking volunteers for April 13-22. Jobs are available both on the mountain and off in such areas as Demo-Days, spotting in the Sprite Zone and the Big Air contest.

Volunteers receive a great thank-you package and wrap-up party.

Call the volly hotline 24 hours a day at 935-5555.
