An unknown man allegedly posed as a BC Hydro worker in an attempt to extort money from a local restaurant.
On Feb. 27, staff at the Whistler eatery called police to report the call, saying a man had identified himself as a hydro worker threatening to shut off the power unless hundreds of dollars were sent to him within 45 minutes. The restaurant staff did not comply.
"It sounded legitimate but it wasn't," said Whistler RCMP Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair. "This is apparently a fraud that's been happening throughout the Lower Mainland."
No suspect has been identified.
Whistler man arrested after witnesses report domestic assault
A Whistler man will head to court next month to answer charges of assault after several witnesses reported seeing a domestic abuse in progress.
On March 2, a witness called police to report a man pushing a female away from him in a parking lot in front of a village bank. The witness also said he observed the man headbutt the alleged victim, his live-in girlfriend, who fell into a wall as a result. Two other complainants called police to report a disturbance at around the same time.
Police said the couple was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
The 21-year-old man faces charges of assault and causing a disturbance.
Woman arrested for assault causing bodily harm
A Tipella, B.C. woman is facing assault charges after she allegedly caused multiple injuries to another female.
The 31-year-old suspect reportedly attended the worksite of the victim approximately 75 kilometres outside Mount Currie on the In-SHUCK-ch Forest Service Road and assaulted her, causing "multiple injuries to her head and body," said LeClair.
On Feb. 24, a complainant called reporting the assault.
Police are recommending charges of assault causing bodily harm.
Delta man resists arrest following reported assault
Staff at a village pub called police early on March 1 to report that a male patron had punched another man and was ejected from the business.
Upon attending the scene, officers approached the suspect, noting he was heavily intoxicated.
The man resisted arrest, police said, "requiring all three officers and a doorman to pin him down and handcuff him," said LeClair. "He continued to resist and tried to pull away while walking to the police vehicle."
The 22-year-old Delta man now faces charges of assault and obstruction.

Whistler RCMP will step up their enforcement of distracted driving throughout the month of March.
"You can expect police officers to be out in force issuing tickets for using electronic devices while driving," LeClair said.
Getting caught texting while driving will net you a $167 fine and a possible loss of points, LeClair said.
