Whistler Chamber of Commerce appoints president

Former Whistler-Blackcomb Foundation executive director

The Whistler Chamber of Commerce announced today the appointment of Louise Lundy as president.

Lundy is well known throughout the Sea to Sky corridor and Vancouver as the former Executive Director of the Whistler/Blackcomb Foundation. Lundy has also held senior positions, with both large and small businesses and brings a wealth of experience in strategic planning, marketing and human resource management.

Mike Wintermute, Chairman of the Chamber’s board said, “Louise’s experience, personality and strong business network is exactly what the Chamber requires. We had many excellent candidates for the position but we firmly believe that Louise Lundy is the one best equipped to move the Whistler Chamber to an even higher level of service to the business community.”

The Chamber of Commerce board of directors are pleased to have Lundy to lead the organization into its next phase through the key period leading up to 2010, which will include local business outreach programs associated with the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, as well as further development of educational and resort service programs.

“I am flattered by the confidence shown in me by the Chamber’s Executive Committee and I look forward to fulfilling the mandate of the Whistler Chamber,” Lundy said. “I look forward to meeting and working with all of our business members.”

Interim President Bernie Lalor-Morton will stay on until late March to assist Lundy in the transition.

“Bernie has always had a passion for the Chamber and we were fortunate that she was willing to put her successful consulting business on hold during the last year. Bernie has made a huge contribution to our success,” said Wintemute.
