The trickle-down effect from unstable world markets has a major impact on Whistler businesses. To provide leadership and training to local Whistler Chamber of Commerce (WCC) members, the WCC will hold its first OUTLOOK Economic Symposium June 5 and 6, 2011.
"We know from the results of the membership survey that we issued post-Games that our members are excited and uncertain about the future and are looking for the Chamber to provide leadership and direction in that regard," said WCC president, Fiona Famulak.
"Canada has clearly been impacted by the global economy and we feel it's important for our members, and others like them from across the province, to understand global and national trends and opportunities in order to make informed decisions about the future."
Though keynote speakers for the event have not been secured, Famulak confirmed that the symposium would address B.C.'s ability to prosper over the next 10 to 15 years. The agenda will focus on providing a global, national, provincial and sectoral perspective on the trends and opportunities that will influence the province's future.
"Timely and thought-provoking commentary will be provided by leading experts from both public and private sectors from in and outside of B.C.," continued Famulak.
The WCC expects to draw over 500 businesses to the symposium, as well as community leaders and senior executives drawn predominantly from the BC Chamber of Commerce and Business Council of BC networks, which has over 35,000 members from across B.C.
