Whistler executives available to highest bidder

Two Whistler business leaders are among the 21 B.C. executives currently being auctioned off for charity.

The expertise of Shannon Byrne, president and CEO of Whistler-based Paradata, and Peter Ciceri, lead independent director for Sierra Wireless and former managing director Compaq Canada, is now available to the highest bidder through Executives on Auction.

Executives on Auction is an online auction that promotes business networking while raising money for charities. Winning bidders will get time with the executive to discuss business strategies and ideas.

The money from the winning bid for Byrne will go to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The winning bid for Ciceri’s time and knowledge will go to the Community Foundation of Whistler.

Fourteen charities will receive funds from the bidding on the 21 B.C. executives taking part.

Among the other executives up for auction are: Bill Gibson, COO of Crystal Decisions; Shahid Hussain, president and CEO of New Media Innovative Centre; Terry McBride, CEO of Nettwerk Music Group; Jay Garnett of Seattle’s Best Coffee Canada; and Rick Antonson, president and CEO of Tourism Vancouver.

Executives on Auction was founded in 2000 in Ottawa, where 100 executives have been auctioned. The fundraising event is said to democratize executive networking by bringing together business leaders and those who want to meet them.

Randy Fisher is managing director for iCentro Corporation, a career design firm that is organizing Executives on Auction.

"It is a unique and fun way to raise funds and awareness for deserving causes and to facilitate targetted business networking opportunities," Fisher said.

After the bidding is complete the executive and the top bidder meet at a mutually convenient date and location, hosted by iCentro.

Bids may be received at the auction Web site: www.executivesonauction.com. The bidding starts at $200 and continues to May 8.
