Last week Rocky Mountaineer invited business leaders, travel and tourism operators and politicians to experience the service.
Sea to Sky corridor invitees took the train from Whistler to Lillooet and then bussed back to Whistler. Others stayed on board to experience Rocky MountaineerÕs Fraser Discovery Route, a two-day journey which will start in Whistler, overnight in Prince George and end in Jasper, Alberta. The Fraser Discovery Route will depart from Whistler three days a week from May 2, 2006 to Oct. 14.
The second service, the Whistler Mountaineer Route, will be a daily service between North Vancouver and Whistler, again from May to October. The three-hour trip will depart from North Vancouver at 8:30 a.m. and from Whistler at 2:30 p.m.
Two levels of service will be offered on each route. On the Whistler Mountaineer Route the Glacier Dome service, in single level dome coaches, will cost $169 one way or $289 round trip. The Coast Classic service will cost $99 one way or $179 return.
Rocky Mountaineer sees cruise ship vacationers as likely customers and is co-ordinating marketing with cruise ship lines.
