For the first time in the history of Whistler Gymnastics, the club is hosting a regional Zone 5 meet featuring beam, vault and trampoline events.
The meet, High On Gymnastics, takes place at Whistler Secondary Community School this Saturday and Sunday, and features clubs from around the Lower Mainland and Bowen Island.
"Were really happy to be hosting a competition for the very first time," said Whistler Gymnastics program director Tami Ross. "Our parent volunteers have done a super job, and we think its going to go really well.
"This is also the first time our athletes havent had to travel to a meet, so theyll get to see another side of the event other than just competing. Theyll be doing the score keeping, organizing things, it will be a good experience. They will also have their family and friends there, which will be good for them as well."
The meet will also help the club financially, as proceeds from admission, the concession stand, and other promotions goes back into Whistler Gymnastics.
