Whistler Mountain opens November 19

Blackcomb opening November 25

Dust off the jacket, wax your board and break in those new boots you bought at the Turkey Sale - because Whistler Blackcomb's winter begins November 19.

The company announced on its website Friday that Whistler Mountain is officially opening November 19, six days ahead of its projected start date for the 2010/2011 winter season. Blackcomb Mountain will open on schedule on November 25.

"New snow and low freezing levels, along with the hard work of our mountain operations, grooming, and snowmaking teams mean we can open Whistler Mountain on Friday, November 19," Doug MacFarlane, Whistler Blackcomb's mountain manager said in a statement.

"Though early season conditions will apply, having those first few turns of the season is a great feeling and we're happy to make that happen for our guests six days earlier than planned."

The mountain officially opens at 8:30 a.m. on the 19 th. Lift and terrain details are to be announced next week.

Early season conditions are expected to apply and Whistler Blackcomb is asking that caution be exercised at all times. The terrain available will be best-suited for intermediate and advanced skiers.

All users are asked to heed temporary boundaries and be careful of rocks and other hazards beneath the snow.
