Vintage Whistler comes alive once more in a new exhibition at the Whistler Museum.

The Whistler Question: A Photographic History 1978 — 1985 takes photos from Pique's sister paper to paint a picture of the early days of the resort, long before it had two mountain ski areas and when the Olympics remained but a dream.

The exhibition also celebrates the museum's recent digitization of almost 35,000 negatives into its collection.

The official opening night takes place on Friday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m., with talks by Paul Burrows, who founded the newspaper in 1976, and Glenda Bartosh, the second publisher and owner of the paper.

Both will recall their own stories from that early period in Whistler's history, and provide the context for the Question's work.

The Whistler Question is Whistler's longest-running newspaper and covered significant milestones in the resort's development, such as the construction of Whistler Village in 1981, the opening of Blackcomb Mountain and the 1982 Alpine Skiing World Cup.Local characters such as Whistler pioneer Seppo Makinen and long-lost venues, including the notorious Boot Pub, are also remembered.

The digitized photos have also been uploaded to the museum's photo-hosting website www.whistlermuseum.smugmug.com, and can be accessed by the public online.
