Registration underway for Rabbits, other programs

The Whistler Nordics Cross-Country Ski Club is now registering kids for their January-February Rabbits Program, for kids aged 4 to 12. The Rabbits ski every Sunday. In addition the Recreational Rabbits (Grade 5 and 6) train on Wednesdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and the Recreational Youth (Grades 7 to 12) train Monday’s from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The club is also hosting a Fast Rabbit/Youth program with two sessions per week.

For both kids and adults, the Whistler Nordics will be hosting "Loonie Glides" once a month as soon as the snow flies.

Then there’s the Classic ski clinics on Jan. 9 and 16, and the Skate ski clinic on Jan. 23. There will also be an interval training clinic, and a technical refresher for skiers who want to relearn the basics.

The club is looking for volunteers to help organize the annual Fairmont Chateau Whistler Cup Cross-Country Ski Loppet in January.

Memberships are available for $15.

You can sign up for the Whistler Nordics, or gear up for the season at the club’s X-C Equipment Swap at Myrtle Philip Community School. Drop-off takes place on Nov. 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Nov. 16 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., and the sale starts afterwards. The cost to sell is $2 per item, up to a maximum of $6.
