Mosher has only been competing for two seasons, but has already made significant progress at World Cup races. He is close to coming within 15 per cent of the times posted by the leaders in his sport, the benchmark that was set for him to make the national team.
Mosher was still training in Europe, and was not at the ceremony to accept the award.
Sport Canada is looking into the possibility of presenting the award to Mosher at a later date in Whistler.
Other names that might be familiar to Whistler include Invermere’s Dusan Grasic, a coach for the national ski team, who won the Coach of the Year Award, and mountain biker Alison Sydor of North Vancouver, who won the Senior Female Athlete of the Year.
