Whistler police are investigating an assault that reportedly took place at a business along the Village Stroll last week. The incident was reported to RCMP at approximately 1 a.m. last Tuesday, Aug. 21.
The investigation revealed that "a dispute had taken place between two individuals that were drinking, resulting in one of the males throwing a beer glass at the booth the other male was sitting in, hitting another person," according to a release.
After officers arrived on the scene and approached the suspect, he reportedly fled, before being apprehended shortly after.
The man was arrested and subsequently released with a future court date.
Police recover six stolen bikes, skateboard
Whistler RCMP have recovered a half-dozen bikes and a skateboard that had reportedly been stolen, police said.
At about 4 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, police received a tip of a suspicious vehicle in Spruce Grove and that a mountain bike had recently been stolen.
Officers located and arrested three suspects shortly after on Nesters Road. This led to a search warrant executed at the suspects' residence, where police found the stolen goods.
Anyone who has recently had their bike or skateboard stolen is asked to contact the Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044 to recover their missing items.
Canoe reported stolen from Westside area
In what is surely the most Canadian of crimes, a canoe was reportedly stolen from a residence in Whistler's historic Westside neighbourhood last week.
Whistler RCMP responded to a report of a stolen 2004 Hellman Prospector canoe last Monday, Aug. 20.
It's believed the five-metre-long canoe, which is described as "honeycomb" in colour and valued at several thousand dollars, was taken sometime over the summer from a home on Old Gravel Road.

Bummer cops wake up bro from his snooze on Village Stroll
Whistler RCMP rudely harshed a dude's mellow last week after he was just trying to catch a few Zs along the Village Stroll.
RCMP officers on patrol the night of Aug. 25 discovered a "significantly intoxicated" male at about 1:30 a.m. who had "decided to take a nap" on the busy pedestrian walkway, according to a release.
Instead of letting him catch up on his beauty sleep, police took the extraordinary step of rousing the man from his slumber "in an effort to get him to move to a more suitable location for sleep."
But our heavy-eyed hero was not to be deterred, declining to move from his rest spot, as he "was quite comfortable," police said.
The man even refused to relocate for his friends, who arrived on the scene in a futile attempt to bring him back to their hotel.
Police ended up arresting the man "for his own safety," and he was held in custody until he was able to care for himself.
He was eventually released with a ticket for public intoxication, police said.
