Whistler was one of 58 communities in B.C. to receive a share of $819,400 from the provincial Infrastructure Planning Grant program, which enables municipalities to study whether infrastructure projects are feasible in their communities.

Grants are available to a maximum of $10,000, and Whistler was granted $7,500 for each of two projects.

One project is the Solar Hot Water Feasibility Assessment, which looks at the potential of using solar, roof-mounted water heaters to supplement gas and electric hot water heating systems.

The second project is the Ground Source Heat Pump Feasibility Assessment, which looks at the potential of more geothermal assisted heating systems.

Squamish was granted $10,000 for a Neighbourhood Energy Utility Feasibility Study, and Pemberton $10,000 for Sewer Treatment Plant Decommissioning.
