Whistler riders, Leanne Pelosi, Priscilla Levac and Mikey Rencz are three of 20 nominees for the seventh annual TransWorld Snowboarding Riders’ Poll Awards, presented by American Suzuki Motor Corporation.

Seven awards will be given in the following categories: Stand Out Performance of the Year, Male and Female Reader’s Choice, and Male and Female Rookie of the Year. The awards will be presented live, Sept. 8, 2005 in San Diego, California.

Pelosi, winner of the 2004 Rookie of the Year award, is nominated this year for the Female Readers Choice Award, and the Rider of the Year. Pelosi’s accomplishments, to name a few, include five first place finishes in rail jams last season: The U.S. Open in Stratton Vermont, the McDonald’s rail jam, in Whistler, the Vans Triple Crown in Breckenridge, Colorado and The Pipe to Pipe in Mount Hood. As well, Pelosi finds time to run MGT, a snowboard camp for girls.

Levac, 2004 Female Rider of the Year, has also had a busy season, placing first at the 2004 U.S. Open slopestyle competition and winning Queen of the Mountain and finishing fourth in slopestyle at the 2004 X Games. She has again been nominated for Female Rider of the Year for the second year in a row.

Rencz has been up and coming since he was 12, and recently had a part in Defective Films’ 2004 video, Promo Copy. He is nominated for Male Rookie of the Year.

Nominations for the rider’s poll winners are determined by polling over 150 pro snowboarders worldwide. Reader’s choice nominations were sent in from thousands of magazine readers.
