Calling all aspiring saints

The Whistler Saints Football club, which went 6-3-1 in their first season last year, is recruiting for the 2009 season.

The kids flag football team will hold its first practices on Monday, Aug. 24 and Thursday, Aug. 27 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Meadow Park. A mini training camp will be held Friday, Aug. 28 and Saturday, Aug. 29 between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

The camp will teach kids between six and 10 years of age the basics of football, including positions, rules and skills such as catching, throwing and blocking. It's open to kids interested in learning about the game and those who are interested in moving up to tackle football.
Flag football is open to boys and girls and it's non-contact.

The Saints are looking for boys and girls between the ages of six and 9 ("League Age" is the age of a player as of Dec. 31 of the current season) who are interested in playing flag football this summer and fall. The first league game normally commences the second week of September, and the season finishes in late November. It's a 10 game season and games are played on a rotating basis either in Squamish or Vancouver on Sundays.

The cost for the season is $79. Registration is now available online at: www.gslfootball.ca. For further information contact Ralph Forsyth at 604-935-0301 or ralph@greenmonkeyconsulting.com.
