For many local runners the annual Haney to Harrison relay is the last big event of the season, but this year a number of athletes managed to squeak in another event on Nov. 16, before the start of winter — the 25 th anniversary of the New Balance Fall Classic at UBC on Nov. 16. There were three categories, including a half marathon, a 10K and a 5K, but most locals were going the full 21.1 km.

The fastest Whistler runner was Paul Suter, who placed 19 th overall and fourth in the men’s 40 to 49 race in one hour, 26 minutes and 18 seconds.

Michael Adams was 34 th overall, but first in the Men’s Under 20 race with his time of 1:29:31.

David Parkin was 19 th in men’s 40 to 49 in 1:35:30.

Walter Wallgram was fifth out of 71 racers in the Men’s 50 to 49 race in 1:35:54.

Christine Suter was 33 rd in women’s 30 to 39 in 1:48:04.

Cristina McKean was 39 th in women’s 20 to 29 in 1:47:52.

Shannon Gordon was 51 st in women’s 30 to 39 in 1:53:47.

From Pemberton, Anna Helmer was 293 rd in women’s 30 to 39 in 2:05:56.

Pam Jones was 150 th in the same category in 2:21:49.

In the 10K run, Corinne Cowden was fifth out of 137 runners in the women’s 40 to 49 race in 47:59.

Alli Van Gruen was 11 th in the same category in 50:10.

Christine Cogger was 40 th in women’s 30 to 39 in 52:53.

Claire Donahue was 18 th in women’s 50 to 59 in 57:28.

Libby McKeever was 66 th in the same group in 1:10:59.
