For many local runners the annual Haney to Harrison relay is the last big event of the season, but this year a number of athletes managed to squeak in another event on Nov. 16, before the start of winter — the 25 th anniversary of the New Balance Fall Classic at UBC on Nov. 16. There were three categories, including a half marathon, a 10K and a 5K, but most locals were going the full 21.1 km.

The fastest Whistler runner was Paul Suter, who placed 19 th overall and fourth in the men’s 40 to 49 race in one hour, 26 minutes and 18 seconds.
