Whistler has signed a Multi-Party Agreement, along with the other 2010 bid partners, that outlines how each will contribute to the Winter Games.

Mayor Hugh O’Reilly called the agreement, a "historic document."

"Signing the agreement so early in the process will give Whistlerites a high degree of confidence that as a community we can proceed knowing what our contribution and obligations will be for a successful bid and Games," said O’Reilly.

The document was signed on Thursday, Nov. 14 at the bid offices, attended by federal Minister of Canadian Heritage, Sheila Copps.

"The announcement today sends a powerful message to the International Olympic Committee," Copps said.

"Having this agreement in place, more than six months before the IOC announces its decision on the 2010 Games, demonstrates the extraordinary level of co-operation between the three levels of government, the national Olympic and Paralympic committees, and the Bid Corporation."

The agreement sets out the roles and working relationships of all the parties involved and addresses a range of issues, like financial contributions, legal responsibilities and the sport legacies of the Games.
