The Whistler Singers will welcome spring with a concert at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church next Saturday, April 30.

The group, currently under the direction of Geoff Maskell, has presented the concert in various years since forming 24 years ago.

Next weekend’s program will feature a mixture of Old English songs, old-time favourites such as Louis Armstrong’s What A Wonderful World and Sunrise Sunset from Fiddler On The Roof, classic Canadiana, Hebrew and Irish folk songs and more.

The Pembertunes, a kids-choir based out of Pemberton’s Signal Hill Elementary School is joining the program with three songs. The concert will also include four songs by Chicks With Picks, an all-female acoustic guitar group, also based in Pemberton, founded by Sue Stearns of the blues-rock band Still Smokin’ and the 2004 Tuned Women showcase.

The concert has been slated for 8 p.m. to accommodate performers and audience members also attending the annual Father/Daughter Dance at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, which falls on the same date.

Tickets for the Whistler Singers Show are $10 with $1 from every ticket donated to the Whistler Food Bank, available at the door. The event will also accept non-perishable items for the Food Bank. Kids will be admitted free with food donations.
