After three frustrating days, Whistler’s Jennifer Bertram, 18, won the women’s GS at the Pontiac GMC Cup national race series in Banff on Feb. 20.

"I just wanted to go out and have fun," said Bertram, who didn’t finish Monday’s GS and was ninth in both slalom races over the weekend. "It hadn’t been a good meet for me here." Anna Paczkowski of North Vancouver was second, and Suki Horton of the U.S. finished third.

Whistler’s Rachel Walker, who underwent knee surgery this summer, finished second in the slalom at the Pontiac GMC Cup national race series at Mount Norquay in Banff on Feb. 18. Elizabeth Richardson of Invermere, B.C., won the race, while Whitney Cox of Edmonton finished third.

It was Richardson’s second slalom gold of the weekend, following a strong performance the previous day. Cox finished second in that race and Jill Reid of Calgary was third.

Aaron Civitarese of Trail, B.C., posted the fastest time in the men’s GS to finish third and clinch first place overall in the standings. Yota Lambropoulos of Banff was fourth in the women’s and claimed the women’s title.
