Whistler skiers top GMC series

A group of Whistler skiers and Whistler Mountain Ski Club alumni cracked the top-10 in the Pontiac GMC Cup race series last week in Nakiska, Alberta.

In the men’s GS on Jan. 9, Mike Giannelli of Burnaby, a member of the national team, took the top spot as he gets ready to return to the World Cup circuit after an injury. Cameron Barnes of Banff and Trevor White of Calgary were second and third.

North Vancouver’s Robbie Dixon, a WMSC alumni who is in his second year with the provincial team, finished fourth overall.

James Finlayson, who is still with the WMSC, finished fifth. Marcus Waring, a WMSC aluni, was ninth overall.

In the women’s GS, Anastasia Skryabina and Charlotte Whitney from the WMSC were seventh and eighth respectively.
