What: SWARM

Where: MY (Millennium) Place

When: Saturday, Jan. 17

Tickets: $17-$20

Vancouver-based high energy percussion troupe SWARM will get MY Place buzzing this Saturday night.

With a collection of handcrafted drums and other percussion instruments in tow featuring bizarre but descriptive names such as the Purple Haze Buddha, the Strange Fruit Telecommunications Tower, and the Marimba River, the five onstage performers and their guru technician promise to fill the room with their trademark primal rhythms.

The integration of intricate, high-energy choreography with the breathtaking experimental sounds delivers an aural/visual spectacle unlike any other.

Following the show, the audience is encouraged to have a look at the instruments and interact with the performers.

Part of the Whistler Arts Council/MY Place 2003-04 Performance Series, SWARM takes the stage at MY Place at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $17 for students and seniors. At time of publication, the MY Place box office reported the performance to be nearly sold out, so those who want to experience SWARM, shouldn’t hesitate to contact 604-935-8410.
