Whistler tops Skiing Magazine rankings, again

For the fifth year in a row, Whistler was named the number one ski area in North America by Skiing Magazine.

For the fifth year in a row, Whistler was named the number one ski area in North America by Skiing Magazine.

According to the top-25 list, which is included in the November "Killer Trips" issue of the magazine, Whistler is a perfect destination:

"Whistler Blackcomb dominates the competition," raved editor-in-chief Perkins Miller.

"This mountain has it all – the largest vertical drop in North America, awesome terrain and some of the best nightlife around."

Alta and Snowbird in Utah are second, followed by Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Squaw Valley, California, and Mammoth California.

Vail was sixth, and Aspen and Aspen Highlands were seventh for Colorado.

Big Sky, Montana, and Alyeska, Alaska, were eighth and ninth.

Tenth place went to Fernie Alpine Resort in eastern B.C.

Three other Canadian resorts cracked the top 25: Sunshine Village was 20 th , Lake Louise 21 st and Kicking Horse 24 th .
