Environment Canada has issued an arctic outflow warning for Whistler today, forecasting cold arctic air gusts and “bitterly cold conditions” accompanied by flurries.

The temperature will remain steady near -8 C while the wind chill hit -20, as of 8 a.m.. There is a risk of Frostbite.

The Resort of Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) has also issued a winter weather notice, warning residents to travel with emergency supplies, monitor road conditions and forecasts, dress warmly outdoors and drain water lines exposed to cold temperatures.

“Following a relatively mild start to the winter season, these will be the lowest temperatures experienced this winter. Although temperatures will begin to moderate in the middle of next week, they will likely remain below seasonal normals until the following weekend,” read the notice.

According to Environment Canada, the strong arctic outflow winds and, “very cold wind chills will persist early into next week.”
