The annual Loop the Lakes trail run took place this past weekend in Squamish, with 8 km and 15 km courses available.
The top runner in the 15 km race was Whistler's Ben Biswell, who completed the course in 1:05:46 - averaging 13.6 km/h on a course in Alice Lake Park that includes a few good climbs from the start.
Les Walc was second in 1:06:04 while Sheila Mulins placed third overall and was the top female in 1:10:24.
From Whistler, Walter Wallgram was eighth - as well as first in men's 50-plus - in 1:16:28. Jan Pichler was one spot back in 1:16:45.
Mick Peatfield was12th in 1:18:12, Arlene Schieven 15 th in 1:22:54, Lee Edwards 16 th in 1:23:05, Scott Brammer 32 nd in 1:36:52, Megan Wastle 33 rd in 1:37:56 and Anne French 43 rd in 1:59:05.
There was also an 8 km race. John Aalberg, manager of Whistler Olympic Park, was first in 32:17, followed by Martin Chabot in 35:33 and Jordan Ellis in 36:28.
The top female was Jenny Hughes, seventh overall in 43:28, followed by Liz Scroggins in ninth place and 44:52. Angela Newton was 11 th in a time of 45:50.
The Loop the Lakes run is part of the Sea 2 Sky Trail Running Series. The remaining events are the Rubble Creek Classic on Sept. 27 and Lumpy's Epic Trail Run in mid-October.
