Squamish Chamber hires new manager

The Squamish Chamber of Commerce announced the appointment of Kenny Music to the position of Chamber Manager, as of Dec. 1.

Having relocated from Calgary earlier this year, Music is excited to be in the Squamish community and to be joining the chamber.

"Squamish is a destination of lifestyle choice," Music said in a release. "I knew within hours of arriving here that Squamish was an active place with a very welcoming and diverse network of extraordinary people and businesses. The membership can be assured that every effort will be made by me to represent them to the best of my ability."

Music brings almost 24 years of Human Resources and Customer Service experience to the role.

Squamish Chamber President, Ron Anderson, said, “I am confident with our selection as members’ satisfaction is our primary goal. We were looking for a candidate that could build and maintain relationships and the momentum we have created in the past few years. We had some truly excellent applicants, and we are proud that our organization attracted such dynamic candidates.”

Kenny Music is ready to take on new challenges and plans to support all Olympic efforts made by the Squamish Chamber of Commerce to date.

“This is an exciting opportunity and I look forward to meeting all existing and future chamber members and working with a strong and diverse board,” he said.

XM Canada turns up the volume

XM Canada is turning up the volume along the Sea to Sky Highway with enhanced signal coverage to pump-up skiers and snowboarders for the ski season and beyond.

With additional terrestrial repeater networks permanently installed along the Sea to Sky Highway, XM Canada will ensure that listeners have strong and steady laughs, sports, tunes and talk radio without the risk of static, fuzz or dead air.

“With the upcoming 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Whistler, and with an increasingly large listener base in the area, we wanted to boost the signal to give our listeners uninterrupted coverage,” said Mark Knapton, vice president of customer operations of XM Canada. “This is a dramatic improvement over our satellite radio competitor and especially AM and FM radio.”

To date, a limited number of radio stations were available on sections of Highway 99. Now, regardless of location along the highway, a variety of music, sports and news channels will be available, including broadcasts of Canucks games.

XM Canada’s network of terrestrial repeaters stretches across Canada and serves to amplify the signal from XM’s satellites in areas where the signal is blocked due to geography or other impediments. XM Canada continues to build out new repeater locations and fine tune its network to ensure subscribers receive the best and strongest satellite radio coverage across Canada.
