Ali Milner, Whistler's silky-voiced songstress, has made the top eight in CBC's new talent competition, Cover Me Canada .

The 21-one-year-old was selected from thousands of musicians from across Canada and was named one of eight finalists during the series premier Sunday evening (Sept. 18). Milner and her band performed a cover of the Avril Levinge hit "Complicated."

Each week, finalists perform hit songs by Canada's top artists for a chance to win $100,000 and a recording contract. Cover Me Canada judges ultimately choose the winner but viewers can vote for their favourite competitors (who, in this case, is Milner - right? ) online at www.cbc.ca/covermecanada.

In a somewhat-related story, her father, Ted Milner, has announced his bid for re-election on Whistler council. This will be his fourth term, if successful.
