Lost Lake cross-country ski and snowshoe trails officially opened for the 2013/2014-winter season Jan. 15, 2014.

The Resort Municipality of Whistler's cross-country grooming and patrol/trail crews are now busy preparing the trails with the the Lost Lake Loop, Lower Panorama, Old Mill Road, Hydro Hill, Hydro Cut and all of the Chateau Trails all expected to be open.

Lost Lake offers 25kilometres of cross country trails and 15 kilometres of snowshoe and Nordic hiking trails through the forest and along the lake. The cross-country trails are groomed daily for classic and skate techniques, with four kilometres of trail lit for night skiing, which begins at 3 p.m. Operating hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with alternative hours on holidays.

All trail users should note that Lost Lake Park and the surrounding trails are now closed to walkers and dogs for the winter season. Lost Lake Park parking Lot is now once again open to emergency and maintenance vehicle access only.

Jan. 14 was the last day of operations for cross-country skiing on Whistler Mountain. As a result of the lack of early winter snowfall in the valley, the RMOW and Whistler Blackcomb worked in partnership to open a 1.4-kilometre loop groomed and track-set for skate and classic skiing on Whistler Mountain on Dec. 21, 2013.

Because weather and trail conditions are highly changeable at this time of year, the trails will be open depending on conditions.

Check the Whistler weather forecast and detailed daily ski conditions and grooming report via the municipality's website.

The RMOW offers a variety of cross-country ticket and pass options. Lost Lake and Ski Callaghan Dual Area Passes are also available. Season Pass, night pass, snowshoe pass and dual area pass pricing is available online.
