In the mood for a swim? Beginning later this month, you'll have to take your dip outdoors.

Meadow Park Sports Centre will be closed for annual maintenance from Monday, Aug. 19 to Monday, Sept. 2, while the Centre's pool area will remain closed until Monday, Sept. 23, the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) announced in a release on Thursday.

The fitness centre will receive a new floor during the closure, while the pool will be drained to allow lines on the bottom of the pool to be repainted.

According to the municipality, work on Meadow Park Sport Centre's expansion and new stretching room is also on track and is expected to be completed on schedule in April 2020.

"The work will cause some noise during the construction period, but is not expected to cause any facility closures," the RMOW stated in the release. The expansion is set to add 138 square metres of space, which will accommodate an expanded fitness centre cardio room and the new stretching room.

Meanwhile, the RMOW's Fall/Winter Recreation Guide is now live. Online registration for or fall and winter programs listed in the guide for Whistler residents opened on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 11 a.m.

Phone registration is available at 604-935-PLAY (7529).

Meanwhile, registration for non-residents begins on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 11 a.m., with in-person registration at Meadow Park Sports Centre and phone registration set to begin on Sunday, Aug. 18 at 6 a.m.

Registration for Whistler's Kids on the Go afterschool program for the 2019/2020 school year opened on Sunday, Aug. 11 in person at Meadow Park Sports Centre. The RMOW is reminding parents to be prepared to register for the entire school year.
