The opening of the new Nancy Greene Drive Bridge into White
Gold has been delayed by six weeks, with the Resort Municipality of Whistler
extending the reopening date from Sept. 15 to Oct. 31. The developer of the
bridge requested the extension.
“The Nancy Greene Drive Bridge replacement will result in a
great improvement to White Gold neighbourhood access and pedestrian safety,”
said Brain Barnett, general manager of environmental services for the RMOW. “We
apologize for the inconvenience caused by the road closure but in the long term
there will be big benefits to the community.”
The new bridge will include two lanes and a pedestrian walkway, replacing a narrow wood and steel bridge that crowded cars and pedestrians. Other improvements include a Valley Trail extension to the signal, Valley Trail lighting, and the removal of hydro and telephone lines that will be placed underground.
