Whoosh win home tournament

The Whistler Whoosh women’s volleyball team finished first out of five teams in a home tournament last Saturday, Nov. 20, beating two Whistler teams created from the Unamus squad and two strong teams from the Lower Mainland.

The Whoosh lost their first game in pool play 25-24 and 25-17 to the Cobras, a Tier I team from Vancouver, then went undefeated for the rest of the day by downing the A-Team from Vancouver and both Unamus teams, Whistler Blue and Whistler Black. Whoosh faced A-team again in the semi-finals, and won both games to earn a rematch against the Cobras. They split the first two games, forcing a tie-breaker which Whoosh won 15-13.

Whoosh player Mairi Smith was named as the top player in the tournament.

The Whoosh and Unamus will be heading to Burnaby on Dec. 11 for a B.C. Volleyball Association tournament.
