B.C. naturalist and writer Chris Czajkowski will be giving a slide presentation at Myrtle Philip Community School on Thursday, April 19. The event is jointly hosted by the Whistler Naturalists and the Whistler Public Library.

After receiving a degree in agriculture, Czajkowski worked and travelled extensively. But she is best known for single-handedly building a log cabin near Bella Coola, B.C., then describing her wilderness experiences in letters read on Peter Gzowski’s Morningside program on CBC Radio.

This is Whistler’s first opportunity to welcome Chris, who has presented talks to university audiences, libraries and alpine garden clubs throughout B.C. She has written two books: Cabin at Singing River (Camden House, 1991) and Diary of a Wilderness Dweller (Orca, 1996). Both are available at the Whistler Public Library.

The event will start at 7:30 p.m. in the Horstman Room. Admission is $2; children under 12 free.
