Fire crews are attending a wildfire burning northeast of Pemberton this afternoon.
The fire — near the junction of Portage Road and Reid Road — was reported at about 12:30 p.m., and is thought to be under half an hectare in size, said Donna MacPherson of the Coastal Fire Centre (CFC).
“It’s not in control at this point. We’ve got crews on site,” MacPherson said.
The CFC has a helicopter and 23 people attending the fire, while three trucks from Pemberton Fire Rescue are also on site.
“We have an air tanker bird-dog officer in the area to assess the fire,” added MacPherson.
“They’re just having a look at it to see if they’re going to drop, but I don’t think they’re going to on this particular one.”
